Author Guidelines

1. Scope and Purpose

Applied Artificial Intelligence and Computing Systems (AAICS) publishes high-quality original research, technical reports, and review articles addressing the practical application of artificial intelligence and computational systems. Submissions should present reproducible methodologies, empirical validation, and clear contributions to theory or applied engineering practice. Papers must be written in clear, professional English and should not have been published or be under consideration elsewhere.


2. Manuscript Categories

AAICS accepts the following types of contributions:

  • Research Articles – Full-length original studies (5,000–9,000 words).

  • Review Articles – Comprehensive and critical surveys of relevant literature.

  • Short Communications – Concise reports of novel findings or methods.

  • Application Papers – Practical implementations or system case studies.


3. File Preparation and Format

  • File Type: Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex) with all figures and tables embedded or referenced.

  • Page Layout: A4 size, single column, 1-inch margins, 12 pt Times New Roman font, double-spaced.

  • Structure:

    1. Title page (title, author names, affiliations, email, ORCID, corresponding author)

    2. Abstract (150–250 words) and 3–6 keywords

    3. Introduction

    4. Materials and Methods / System Design

    5. Results and Discussion

    6. Conclusion

    7. Acknowledgements (if any)

    8. References


4. Figures and Tables

  • Figures should be high-resolution (≥ 300 dpi) in JPG, PNG, or TIFF format.

  • Tables must be editable text, not images.

  • Each figure and table must include a descriptive caption and be cited in the text (e.g., as shown in Figure 2).

  • Permission must be obtained for any previously published materials.


5. References and Citation Style

AAICS follows the APA 7th Edition citation and referencing style.
Examples:

In-text citation:

  • Single author: (Smith, 2023)

  • Two authors: (Lee & Chen, 2024)

  • Three or more authors: (Kumar et al., 2025)

Reference list examples:

  • Journal article:
    Smith, J. A., & Wang, Y. (2023). Deep reinforcement learning for adaptive control. Applied Artificial Intelligence and Computing Systems, 2(3), 145–160. https://doi.org/10.xxxx/aaics.v2i3.123

  • Conference paper:

References should be alphabetically ordered and all cited works must appear in the reference list.


6. Ethical Standards

Authors must ensure their work complies with academic integrity and publication ethics.
AAICS strictly prohibits plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, and inappropriate authorship credit.
Manuscripts are screened using automated plagiarism detection tools before peer review.


7. Peer Review and Revision

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process by at least two independent reviewers.
Authors may be requested to revise and resubmit their manuscripts within a specified period.
Accepted papers proceed to copy-editing and production after final approval by the Editor-in-Chief.


8. Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to deposit research data, source code, or supplementary material in reputable public repositories (e.g., Zenodo, GitHub, Figshare) and include a Data Availability Statement at the end of the manuscript.


9. Copyright and License

Upon acceptance, authors retain copyright under the
Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0),
granting unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction provided the original work is properly cited.

Submission Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off each item listed below to confirm that their submission meets the journal’s requirements. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned for revision before entering peer review.

    ☐ All authors have agreed to the submission and confirmed that the work represents original research.

  2. File Format and Structure
    ☐ The manuscript is submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex) format.
    ☐ The file includes the following sections: Title Page, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References.
    ☐ All figures and tables are embedded in the text or provided as separate, clearly labeled files.

  3. Language and Style
    ☐ The manuscript is written in clear, grammatically correct English.
    ☐ References and in-text citations conform to the APA 7th Edition style guide.

  4. Ethical Compliance
    ☐ The submission complies with recognized research ethics and integrity standards.
    ☐ Any studies involving human participants, data, or AI-generated content include appropriate disclosures and ethical approval where applicable.
    ☐ All potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed.

  5. Data and Reproducibility
    ☐ All data, code, and materials essential to reproducing the results are available or will be shared upon request.
    ☐ A Data Availability Statement is included at the end of the manuscript, when relevant.

  6. Permissions and Copyright
    ☐ All copyrighted material from other sources (e.g., figures, tables) has proper permissions or citations.
    ☐ I understand that accepted papers will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing open access distribution and reuse with proper citation.

  7. Reviewer Suggestions (Optional)
    ☐ I may suggest potential reviewers who are not affiliated with the authors and have no conflict of interest.

  8. Author Information
    ☐ The corresponding author’s contact details, ORCID ID, and institutional affiliation are complete and accurate.
    ☐ All co-authors are listed with their full names, affiliations, and email addresses.
